What Is Active Recovery?
Active Recovery is a workout performed at a lower intensity, reduced power or lesser resistance than what you have performed in your regular higher intensity workouts.
Why Is Active Recovery Important?
Active recovery can reduce soreness and speed up the muscle-rebuilding process. As you build up high intensity workouts for the week, you muscles receive a large workload on them, Active Recovery helps your muscle recovery by increasing blood flow without putting heaving strain on the muscles and joints.
Active Recovery has many different options available to perform, Elevate Strength and Fitness has specific Active Recovery classes but there are many other modalities you can perform as well such as take a walk, a spin bike class, a bike ride, swimming, yoga and more.
Just remember, keep it short and simple, but the key is make it active.
